Chandrapal Chouksey is CABA member
IN A major boost to the archeo-logical and heritage sites of Vidarbha. Chandrapal Chouksey has been appointed as a member of Central Advisory Board of Archeology (CABA). Cultural Ministry. Government of Indian for periods of four years. The board which will be headed by the Cultural Minister of India has representation from ASI. ministry of environment, UGC. tourism ministry. CPWD, ex Directors of ASI. Indus valley script. Cultural and archeology universities and five individual experts making it a board with holistic representation across the spectrum to promote quick response and immediate action in important matters. The board is empowered to make sub committees to look into specific projects and concerns for promotion of archeological pursuance in the country.
CABA will act as forum lo promote closer contacts of the ASI with Indian Universities conducting archeological research relating to application of archeological principles. training future
archeologists for identification, upkeep and development of various archeological and heritage sites in the country.
Vidarbha has mane historical places, structures, temples and forts which are in poor state due to negligence of authorities and lack of proper upkeep. Ramtek's Gadh Mandir. Mansar's archeological excavations of Raja Vakatak. Rani Durgavati fort of Deolapar. Nagardhan fort. Gavilgarh fort Siiabuldi fort etc are few in that list which will the prime focus of Chouksey. Ramtek temple will be restored to its glorious past and all archeological sites in the region will be developed according to international standards soon.
Recently a regional office of ASI was started in Nagpur to manage and maintain all these historical destinations and promote them nationally and with Chouksey's appointment these projects will get a further impetus. Chouksey thanked Member of Parliament Mukul Wasnik for forming the regional office of ASI in Nagpur and his appointment in CABA.
