NMC gears up to face rain fury
MUNICIPAL Commissioner Shyam Wardhane look review of premonsoon preparation on Wednesday. He directed administration to keep ready all emergency services in view of heavy rains like last year. The local body served notices to buildings where water accmulated in basement during rainy season and has asked them to lake adequate steps lo (lush out water on their own.
Generally, the monsoon will reach Nagpur on June 10. However. Commissioner has already asked civic body officials to gear up and he ready by end of May. He directed Health department to ensure every nullah, river, storm water drain should be cleaned before month end He directed to cover manholes, prepare list of vulnerable areas, and school, colleges for relocation of affected people. All the schools should have power supply from MSEDCL or through generator. The Public Works Department should be ready with poclain. JCB. and other heavy equpiments.
Commissioner directed to prepare disaster management plan for monsoon. Laxmi nagar zone office issued notices to buildings. Dharampeth zone issued notices to 66 buildings. Hanuman Nagar zone - 16. Dhantoli zone -44. Nehru Nagar zone 15. Gandhibag zone- 21. Satranjipura zonc-5. Lakadganj zone -8. Ashi Nagar zone -60 and Mangalwari zone issued notices lo 10 buildings.
