Mini bus tourism started at TATR
IN A laudable move, administration of Tadoha-Andhari Tiger Resent (TATR) launched a mini-bus service to provide a boost to eco-tourism in the reserve from Wednesday morning and evoked tremendous response. In the first trip inside TATR. the tourist could sight a tiger near Telia lake and 18 lucky tourists in the evening also had a glimpse of a majestic tiger
G P Garad. Chief Conservator of Forests & Field Director, TadobaAndhari Tiger Reserve inaugurated the min-bus at Mohurli gale in the presence of C S Reddy. Dy. Director (Core) and Gajendra Narwane Dy. Director (Buffer). Range Forest Officer (Wildlife). Moharli Sachin Shinde his staff and many tourists were present to applaud this move. The mini-bus tourism has been started to provide relief to people who are unable to understand the intricacies of on-line booking as well as for those who cannot afford the high prices to hire open Gypsy. The minibus tourism tickets will be available for booking on the spot on first come first serve basis. The 19-scaIcr mini bus operates in two rounds daily (morning and afternoon). The bus starts from Mohurli and take the tourists to Navegaon viaTeliya lake. Khatoda. Jamni meadow, and Pandharpaoni. It returns to Mohurli via Pandharpaoni. Tadoba. and Khatoda.
The morning safari timings are from 7.30 am to 11.30 am, and the afternoon timings will be from 3.30 pm to 6.30 pm. The cost of tickets on working days of the week is Rs. 150/- per head and Rs. 200/- on all Government holidays. The camera charges of Rs. 200/- for lenses of 250 mm & above will have to be paid separately. In the inaugural trip itself the bus got booking for full capacity of 19 seats & people were requesting for afternoon booking and for next day morning booking. A visibly happy forest officers told The Uttavada that SUCH encouraging response has demonstrated need for mini-bus safari.
The mini-bus covers almost 90 per cent of the route covered by open gypsies. However, it is necessary for the mini-bus 10 have at least 10 tourists. Based on the response to the mini-bus service, the TATR administration may launch four-five more buses in future. The mini-bus has been procured from the budget allocation to Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Conservation Foundation for the year 2013-14. Dhananjay Bapat. tourist representative of TATR local advisory committee while welcoming the move urged forest department to run the bus, even it"response is less on some day.
