PSA score may have proved vital in CBSE X result
The Problem Solving Assessment (PSA) might have proved a resultant factor in this year's Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class X result. PSA began last year but not many students emphasized on it and failed to score more, expressed experts.
Principal of Modern School, Koradi road said. "Assessment pattern has been modified. The papers of PSA come from Board directly which is equivalent 10 Formative Assessmem-4 (FA-4). Normally peopledon't scoremuch. Last year students did not take PSA seriously. Teachers became careful this year. Some schools with more awareness emphasized on PSA which has played major role. Those who took seriously scored well."
With tour Formative Assessment (FA) which are based on objective type questions and one Summative Assessment (descriptive), CBSE students get 70 per cent marks at school-level. He has to play in 30 per cent marks which are evaluated through Summative Assessment -2 means final examination conducted and evaluated by Board itself. Scoring chances are much with schools. Last year PSA was introduced.
Kapai pointed, "Differences in schools in all students are about I or 2 mark. The student who scored 98.8% is just one mark behind that of student scored 99%.'
Pallavi Dadhe. Principal of St Xavicrs School. Hingna road also was of same opinion. She said. "PSA got included solely on aptitude scores. PSA score varies from child to child. My students did not score much in PSA. Very few scored 95 and above. Because of less focus on PSA."
According to one teacher die scoring might have gone up because of more marks given by schools in SA-1. These marks though are checked by CBSE but they do it randomly.
The results have evoked mixed reactions from schools across the city. While in some, the number of students scoring 10 cumulative grade point average (CGPA) has gone up. in others it has gone down.
