Amravati Teachers' constituency polls likely to witness tough fight


TOUGH fight can be expected in the elections for Amravati Teachers" constituency scheduled to he held on June 20, as many candidates with good support of organisation are contesting elections. Otherwise, predominantly a teachers' organisation election, will more be candidate centric this time and even organisation will have to battle with difference in choices of its members. After Lok Sabha elections, preparations for Amravati Teachers" constituency elections arc started in five districts of Amravati division. Polling will be held on June 20 while nominations filing process will start on May 27. Teachers from Amravati. Akola.   Yavatmal.   Buldana  and Washim district will vote to choose their representative in upper house Of Maharashtra legislature.
Traditionally. Maharashtra Rajya Shikshak Parishad and Vidarbha Madhyamik Shikshak Sangh were the two prominent players in this constituency. This time also both organisations are contesting elections and have declared their official candidates but both organisalioils are facing the problems of rebel by its members.
Vidarbha Madhyamik Shikshak Sangh has given the candidature to Ramdas Borate instead of silting MI.C Vasant Khotare. As a result. Khotare is in the mood of rebellion and contesting election as independent candidate.
On the other hand. Maharashtra Rajya Shikshak Parishad has declared Shrikrishna Awchar as official candidate but Ramesh Chandurkar of the same organisation is also preparing lo run in the race.
Entry of Adv Arun Shelke. President of Shri Shivaji Education Society, in the fray has made the contest extremely interesting. No doubt, SSES. the institution headed by Adv Shelke has its great impact on the education field and teachers and it is to be seen that whether this helps Adv Shelke in elections or not.
Apart from this. Shrikant Deshpande of Shikshak Aghadi is also in the fray as like every election. Shckhar Bhoyar of Dr Panjabrao Deshmukh Rashtriya Shikshak Parishad, Vijay Gulhane of Jito organisation. Varsha Nikam of Shikshak Bharati. Dr Subhash Gavai   of  Prajasattak   Shikshak Karmachari Sangh and INSA and N T Ardak of Sanyukla Purogami Shik.shak Mahasangh are also trying their luck in these elections. Divisional Commissioner D R Bansod is the Returning Officer while Deputy Commissioner Madhav Chimaji is the Deputy Returning Officer. Collectors of all five districts will be Assistant Returning Officers.
Nominations will be accepted at Amravati only while voting will take place at tehsil level. Administration is giving final touches to the updating of voters' lists for these elections and around 42,000 voters are expected to be the part of these lists.
Voting will take place on June 20 while counting will take place on June 24.
