ENTIRE city is gearing to celebrate 'Akshaya Tritiya or Festival of Prosperity' on May 2. The marriageable youths have planned their marriages on this auspicious day as it is oik of the most auspicious 'Muhuna' among three and half Muhurtas con-sidered in Hindu mythology. All marriage halls, lawns and big hotels are booked for marriages being planned on Akshaya Tritiya. The social and political leaders have organised mass marriages for poor and downtrodden. About 50 brides and bride grooms will tie nuptial knots during the mass marriage function lo be held at Paradsinga in Katol tchsil. Many citizens have planned to purchase new vehicles, gold ornaments, clothes etc on Akshaya Triiiya.

Akshaya Triiiya. also known as 'Akha Teej'. is the birthday of Lord Parashurama. the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. The day also marks beginning of Satya Yug or the Golden Age. In the Puranas. the holy Hindu scriptures, there is a story that says that on this day of Akshaya Triiiya, Ved Vyasa along with Ganesha started writing the great epic Mahabharat. Holy river Ganga or Mother Ganges also descended on earth on this day.

Many astrologers said. "The things done on May 2 will gel multiplied. amplified and magnified. Every thought, every word, every action will he manifold. Hence, people should fulfill their          long

desires to thousand fold as it is the flourishing day known as Akshaya Triiiya."

"It is the same day. when Kuhcra. the treasurer of God was blessed by Lakshmi. the Goddess of wealth. Thus, people purchase gold as a symbol of wealth, as there is belief that gold purchased on Akshaya Triiiya helps to multiply wealth of a person." some almanacs have mentioned.

Akshaya Triiiya always falls on third lunar day of bright half of Vaishakha month, when the Sun is in exaltation in Aries (Mesha Rashi).

This is the only 3rd phase of Moon during the entire year that is most auspicious for the finances, business success, abundant prosperity and eliminating losses.
