Road project in Akola gets green signal
AMRAVATI Divisional Commissioner D R Bansod has finally given a green signal lo the long awaited project of city road development. The decision came after a prolonged discussion with Akola Municipal Corporation Commissioner Dr Mahendra Kalyankar on Thursday.
Though the Commissioner has okayed the 18 main roads project, it is still undisclosed which roads are covered in the scheme. The road development project was proposed by former Commissioner Deepak Choudhary after main roads in the city were damaged due to heavy rains last monsoon. The project was pan of me Rs 100 crore road development project announced by Maharahstra Chief Minister Pruthviraj Chavan. Akola city was sanctioned Rs 15 crore under the project. Recently, a proposal for the 18 roads repairs and development was submitted by AMC to the Commissioner'soffice. Initially, the AMC was asked to take 50% share in the expenses, however later the condition was taken back.
D R Bansod held discussions with AMC Commissioner Dr Kalyankar and finally approved the proposal. The final administrative sanction will come on May 13. it is laernt. Now, it remains to be seen which roads are covered in the scheme. Dr Kalyankar has also discussed the matter of unauthorised constructions in the city. Last week AMC squad had demolished an unauthorised construction of a building in progress in Ram Nagar area.
