Mah Govt to rank Municipal Corporations

MAHARASHTRA Government  is trying 10 improve basic services provided in various Municipal Corporations in the state including Nagpur. The Slate Government will be ranking Municipal Corporations on the basis of services provided in these local bodies. Government is trying to increase competition amongst local bodies within the stale lo improve services lo common man.

Pic State Government will rank Municipal Corporations on monthly basis. The Municipal Commissioner will collect information of all the departments every month and ranking will be decided at State level. Municipal Commissioner shayam Wardhane took meeting of departmental heads on Saturday. and in Mrueted them to provide details by Monday. Commissioner said, the Slate Government will give ranking on the basis of 27 points.The Government has given responsibilty 10 Dinesh Mehta. CEPT University of Gujarat.

The ranking of civic body will depend on population, density of population in every sq mtrs. birth and death rate, property tax. projects, number of employees. Has and emergency services in city, water supply, condition of lakes, solid waste management, period of completion of project work, environment report. Principal Secretary  of   Urban Development Shrikanl Singh will lake meeting of a" Municipal Commissioners on May 7 at Mumbai in this regard.

The comparison of services will be discussed in that meeting and later ranking will decide.

Earlier, State Government had decided ranking of Municipal Corporations on the basis of expenditure done on the projects sanctioned under Jawaharlal Nehru National I'rhan Renewal Mission
