JUSTICE Bhushan Gavai and Justice S B Shukre at the High Court have passed a quite detailed order in the public interest litigation (PIL) filed by Nagpur Contractors' Association, with suggestion to the respondent - Public Works Department (PWD) to prepare and implement a policy to avoid recurrence of the illegalities complained of and put a slop 10 game of playing fraud on the stale exchequer by the culprits, in consultation with the experts and all concerned persons in 8 weeks.
This is in the backdrop of wisdom dawning upon PWD a little late, in the wake of the High Court's directions to it 10 act quickly and fast in the larger public interest to blacklist one of its favourite contractors M/s Ankit Construction  for 3 years, for indulging in huge irregularities and illegalities with hands in gloves with several State PWD officers.
It has been suggested to the department that out of these 8 weeks, the department can invite and consider suggestions in this regard in first two weeks.
As the government had intimated to the court on the previous date that it was proceeding against its 34 officers by way of holding departmental inquiry against them and the report has been received from Inquiry Officer regarding 287 charges levelled against them, the court has directed the department to complete everything concerning inquiry including actionagainst them in 3 months.
