'New mission to replace JNNURM
UNION Government will launch a new mission next month to replace Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNl'RM). said Vcnkaiah Naidu, Union Urban Development Minister. He was talking to mediapersons at Kasturchand Park ground here on Thursday.
Talking to the media on the sidelines of foundation stone laying ceremony of Nagpur Metro Rail project. Naidu said that the term of JNNURM ended in March 2014. "Central Government has given extension to the mission on two occasions. Now. new Government will launch new mission on the lines of vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. All on-going and sanctioned projects under old mission will be included in this new mission." he told.
On allegations of Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan about neglecting Metro Rail project of Pune. Naidu said that the State Government took its own sweet time to send a proper proposal for the Pune project. It ("inally sent a proper proposal on Wednesday evening at 5.50 pm and now Central Government will consider Pune Metro Rail project and give nod. he informed. The third phase of Meiro Projeci of Mumbai also will be sanctioned soon, he added.
On the issue of statehood to Vidarbha. Naidu said. "Modi Government is delivering justice to Vidarhha. Laying foundation stone of Metro Rail project at Nagpur is part of this."
It may be mentioned here that Central Government has sanctioned 19 projects to NMC. The total cost of these project is Rs 1.800 crore. Total 8 projects have been completed and remaining II are in the pipeline. Union Government led by Congress had sanctioned North Sewerage Zone project worth Rs 491 crore for the city. However. new Government did not release funds to this project. This project will be incorporated in new scheme.
Meanwhile, it is learnt that Naidu took stock of on-going and sanctioned projects under JNNURM for Nagpur Municpal Corporation (NMC) and Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT).Municipal
Commissioner Shyam Wardhane made a presentation before the Minister. Superintending Engineer Prakash Urade was also present.
