NSS camp inaugurated in Dr Ambedkar College
THE National -Service Scheme (NSS) unit was inaugurated at the local Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar College of Arts. Commerce and Science run by Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Memorial Society at the hands of Dr Girde. District Coordinator of NSS during a "Social Equality Fortnight' Programme held in the college, recently.
Dr Rajesh Dagegaonkar. Principal of the college presided over the programme while Dhammapal Ghotekar. Director of the educational institute was present as the chief guest.
Ii may be mentioned here that NSS was established for the College students on September 24. 1969 under the Ministry of Youth Welfare and Sports of the Government of India on the occasion of the Birth Centenary Year of Mahatma Gandhi with an aim to acquaint the students with the social binding and achieve their all round personality development. Speaking on the occasion. I)i Dahegaonkar said thai NSS is a solid platform for the students to explore their hidden talents and develop their personality. NSS aims at leading the students to enter in the rural atmosphere, interact with the villagers, know their problems closely, do some constructive works for them, and conserve the national integrity. The students should proceed further to achieve the said objectives of NSS. appealed Dr Dahegaonkar.
Dr Girade said that the Youth is the Pillar of the nation and his hands are not for the destruction but for the construction. To sum up. the youth is the nation's source of energy, said Dr Girade. Dr Girade was honoured with shawl and bouquet at the hands of Dr Dahegaonkar.
Dr Vijaya Gedam delivered the introductory remarks. Prof Dilip Ramteke conducted the programme while Prof Satish Petkar proposed vote of thanks.
