Transport Minister likely to change rules for auto-rickshaw permitsa
THF conditions on issuing fresh pcrmits should be changed and seniority in services rendered by auto-rickshaw plyers should be given due weightage.
The notification on various conditions were limited to Mumhai and copies for information were sent to various Regional Transport Offices. After discussion with these regional officers, the desired changes will be carried out.
This was staled by Maharashtra Transport Minister Madhukar Chavan. during discussion with representatives of VidarbhaAuio-rick-shaw Chalak Federation.
The Federation held discussion with Chavan at Mumnai on July 30. informs a press note issued by me General Secretary Anand Chaure. The Federation has opposed the present system of issuing new per-mils through lottery system.
The system deprives senior plyers of the opportunity to buy their own rickshaw, even after earning their bread and butler by hiring the rickshaw.
The new condition of educational qualification (SSC pass) also deprives the seniors of the opportunity.
The Federation also discussed the major demand of constitution of welfare board for auto-rickshaw plyers.
The Federation along with other organisations, has planned indefinite state wide agitation from August 15. in support of their demands.
Chaurc has slated that Chavan has assured to lake decision on the demands soon.
The organisation will take decision on the proposed strike only after decision of the Transport Minister.
