NULLAH deepening work taken up in Akhatwada village of Morshi tehsil has saved the village from destruction in spite of recent heavy rains. The onc-km-Iong nullah deepening work was started in 2013 and was completed this year. The work was taken up as the village used 10 suffer heavy losses every time heavy rains spurred Roods as water used to enter the farms.
Sub Divisional Irrigation office of Zilla Parishad at Warud had sent a proposal of nullah deepening to the State Government. People gave 10 per cent donations of total amount while remaining 90 percent were made available by the Government. The work was completed before rainy season this year.
It may be mentioned here that the recent floods in Chargadh river flooded many nullahs including one at Akhatwada. But water did not enter in the farmers this time due to deepning of the millah. The water got accumulated in cement barrage con-structed near the site. The process also helped in the increasing ground waier level. Sarpanch Sharada Mankar. Deputy Sarpanch Mangala Bidkar. Police Paiil Nana Kohale. Gram Panchayat memhers Imran Paihan. Vinod Thakare. Bhupesh Kohale and other farmers and villagers took efforts for competing the deepening work.
