NAGPUR-BASED Rile Water Solutions Private Limited has bagged a prestigious award for 'Commercialising new age media for removal of fluoride and arsenic", under United States-India Science and Technology Endowment Funds (USISTBF). The gram for removal of fluoride and arsenic contamination in water is around 400,000 US dollar (about Rs 2.50 crore).
The project will bring about a cost-effective and sustainable solution for tackling fluoride and arsenic problem, which is prevailing across rural habitation in India. The problem of fluoride exists in about 17 states, while arsenic contamination in ground water is seen in some states like Bengal, Jharkhand. Bihar and some parts of the North-Easter states.
Talking to TJie Wiavada. Abhijit Gaan. Director of Rite water Solutions said that the company is already working in ten places in India. More projects for removing contamination from ground water, are in the pipe-line. The project will be implemented in collaboration with US based company WIST Inc.
Government of India, under its National Rural Development Water programme (NRD WP) has increased budgetary allocation from Rs 1400 crore to Rs 3600 crore. This fund will be utilised by the respective state governments. Rite Water Solutions plans to vie for execution of programmes under NRDWP. Along with funds from USISTEF. the budgetary allocation will help in providing clean drinking water to the people in major parts of the country.
