Mahatma Jyotiba Phule College wins award
MAHATMA Jyotiba Phule College run by Asmita Shikshan Maiulal has got the first state-level award under Jagar Janivancha Project of Maharashtra Government.
State Government conducted the project Jagar Janivancha' in 2013-14 with the motive of creatingawareness about equality amongst men and women and empowerment of women. Every college had to invite suggestions from students for the implementation of projects under this campaign.
Under the competition, participating colleges were required to work out five suggestions and to submit the report tos late government. In this. Mahatma Jyotiba Phule College has got first prize on state level which comprises Rs 5 lakh cash prize and a memento. Earlier, the college had also won district-level award worth Rs 1 lakh and a memento and Sant Gadgebaba Amravati University-level award of Rs 2 lakh and memento.
Mahatma Jyoiiba Phule College had awarded Mangesh Warkhede and his wire on the occasion of Savitribai Phulc's binh anniversar' for adopting a girl child in spile of having two children of their own. The college also distributed bicycle among girl students, gave week-long martial arts training to girls, felicitated parents who have only one child and it is a girl child and had also organised street plays, signature campaign, debate and essay competitions and guidance on women related laws. All this good work fetched the college the state-level award.
College had won district level and university level awards in last session and it won all three awards in the 2013-14 session.
A committee headed by Principal Dr Santosh Thakare was formed for implementation of various projects under 'Jagar Janivancha' project. Dr Babila Yeole. Dr Atul Wankhadc. Prof Shridhar Dhakulkar. Prof Sonali Asarkar. Prof Rajani Kale took efforts for the implementations of the programme. All lecturers, non teaching employees and students also contributed in making the campagin successful.
Principal Dr Santosh Thafcare has now declared to give 'Kul Savitri award to persons working for uplift of women.
