Lightning claims 2 women labourers in Mehkar tehsil
THOUGH rains brought much-needed respite to residents of tehsil. who have been waiting for rains for last one month, it also spelled doom for Ukali-Sukali and Hivara villages where two women labourers died of lightning strike on Thursday afternoon.
As per reports. Sumitra Shivaji Audage (20). Surekha Ramprasad Khodve (30). Sharda Ramdas Audage (30) and Malati Mohan Bore (32). all residents of Ukali-Sukali village, were working in the farm of one Mohan Bore when it started raining heavily at i pm. Rains forced women labourers to take shelter under a Neem tree while Sumitra Audange sat at some distance holding a pot over her head. However, lightning struck Sumitra. kill ing heron the spot. Other women also suffered injuries and were rushed to a private hospital in Mehkar. Notably, the deceased Sumitra had married just four months back. Her death came as shocker to her family. In second incident. Sharda Arjun Bore (55), who was working in the field along with her husband and son in Ukali-Sukali village, died of lightning strike.
