Dr Ishwarchandra passes away
A LEGENDARY
Ophthalmologist, teacher of countless successful medical professionals of today. Dr Ishwarchandra passed away on Monday morning. He was 92. He leaves behind two sons, two daughters and a host of relatives to mourn his loss. The last rites were performed at Ambazari Ghat.
Born on July 13,1922 in Punjab, Dr Ishwarchandra was brought up in Madhya Pradesh. After passing matriculation examination in 1935. he joined Robertson Medical School to finish a diploma course (LMP) in 1942. He joined the Army on January 1. 1943 and served for a period of four-and-a-half years. In 1949. he joined Government Ophthalmic Hospital, Madras to pursue a license course. He was admitted to Army I-akc Medical College. Calcutta in 1950 for condensed MBBS course.
Dr Ishwarchandra worked with Sitapur Eye Hospital (1.000-bed-ded) from July 1951 through December 1952. when he was selected to the post of lecturer in Government Medical College. Nagpur. He obtained DO(Nagpur)
