'WPAT to be pilot project in Chandrapur constituency'
THE Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT), a system in which the voter will be able to see display of (he symbol of the candidate to whom he she has voted, will he utilised as a pilot project in Chandrapur Assembly constituency only during the State Assembly elections schedule on October 15. informed Dr Deepak Mhaisekar on Monday afternoon.
Addressing the media persons. District Collector Dr Mhaisekar further claimed that the model of code of conduct has been enforced recently following the announcement State Assembly elections to be held on October 15 by Election Commission. "The notification will be published on September 20. last date of nomination on September 27. scrutiny of nomination forms on September 29. last date of withdrawal of nomination forms on October I. election will be held scheduled on October 15. counting of votes is scheduled on October 19." claimed Dr Mhaisekar.
The DEO further stated that 27 Election Officer for Rajura. Chandrapur, Ballarpur. Warora. Wani and Aarni Assembly constituency has already been to keep monitoring on various issues related with elections in the district, claimed the IAS cadre in the press conference.
Further, the Collector claimed that total 17.50.893 voters arc in six asembh constituencies of which over 9 lakh arc male voters whereas over 8 lakh are female voters. In all. 1950 voting booths will be set up during the elections while more 34 booths proposal have already been sent to Election Commission, he underlined- "Out of six Assembly constituencies, the VVPAT system will be utilised to ensure proper voting at voting booths in Chandrapur
