Ramtek cops seize teakwood
RAMTEK police held accused and seized illegally felled leak wood worth Rs 48.000 in Ramtek jungle and vehicle in the wee hours of Monday.
It is reported that the policemen - Umesh Thakre. Satish Nagpure, Sandeep Nagose. Moreshwar Nagose and Kawdu Zade - were on patralling duly in Mansar Kandri area in the night. They noticed Tata Pickup vehicle bearing No: MH 34 AB 7482 fully covered with tarpoline was heading towards highway. Cops stopped the vehicle and made inquiries. They found seven feel long 15 leak logs (1.943 cubic metre) and arrested driver Raju Madanlal Gautam (28), a resident of New Mhalgi Nagar, Plot No: 841. Nagpur. and brought to Ramtek Police Station. It is suspected that the timber felled illegally in Ramtek jungle. However. it could not be known in which beat the trees were cut. Police took the action under supervision of Dr Aarti Singh. Superintendent of Police, and DilipSalunke. Sub-Divisional Officer. Police handed over the case to Ramtek Forest Department. Forestmen registered an offence under sections 41. 42, 51 and 51 of Indian Forest Act while Round Officer S R Sirsam is making further investigation.
