BANO Sanaj. noted litterateur from Chandraour. has been honoured with "Bharaiendu  Harishchandra

Puraskar (for children's literature) for 2011-2012. She was presented the award at the hands of Prakash Jawadekar. Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting.

It may be mentioned here that Parakash Jawadekar has hiked the prize amount and also started another category of awards in of literature to encourage writing on all round development of adolescent girls. On account of (lie birth anniversary of Bharatendu  Harishchandra.

Jawadekar gave away Bharatendu Harishchandra Puraskars of two years-2011 and 2012.

For 2011. Vijay Datta Shridhar (for writing on journalism and mass communication), Gecta Shree (for writing on women) and Bano Sartaj (for writing on children) were conferred with the award. For 2012. Vijayalaxmi Sinha (for writing on journalism and mass communication). Urmila Kumari (for writing on women) and Mohammad Arshad Khan (for writing on children) were conferred with the award.It may be mentioned here thai Bano Sartaj is a renowned litterateur of Hindi and Urdu in the city. About 30 books penned by her including short stories, comics and satirical writings, research thesis, one-act-plays for the children, stories and poems for children along with children's novels in both the languages have been published till date. Presently, she is working as a lecturer in senior college.
