First Haj flight fails to take off from Nagpur airport
THE first Haj flight scheduled to lake off at 6 am on Tuesday was delayed hours together due to technical snag which created chaos at Nagpur's Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport. The enthusiastic pilgrims had to face hardships for the whole day, in absence of proper arrangements of food and stay. Three pilgrims were fainted and taken to CARE hospital. This has angered relatives of the pilgrims who shouted slogans against the authorities. Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) under its Deputy Commandant Sudhir Kumar brought the situation under control. Finally, flight took off at 10.25 pm on Tuesday.
The Jet Asia flight of Thai Plane with which. DKP Enterprises has made an arrangement, was supposed to take off at 6 am for Jeddah on Tuesday with first batch of 265 passengers. Accordingly the relatives of the pilgrims dropped the passengers at 10pm on Monday at Haj House. The pilgrims were picked up from the Haj House and dropped at airport by 2 am on Tuesday. Since early morning the pilgrims were waiting for their turn. They boarded the flight by 2.30 am and it was ready to take off by 6.20 am. But il did not. When some pilgrims asked the airlines officials, they were told that soon it would lake off. The airlines made an announcement that nobodv should feel panic and soon the flight would take off. The aircraft was started with Air Conditioner on. But after some time, pilot switched off the AC causing inconvenience to people. On their requests the AC was switched on. Again after some lime the AC was switched off. The nonavailability of these facilities plus food made some old aged people fainted and then chaos began. In the meantime, another Haj flight scheduled for 10 am took off smoothly for Jeddah at its time.
