MADHYA Pradesh East, Central and West Region Power Distribuiion Companies have registered more than 96.000 cases of power pilferage and recovered revenue of Rs 93 crore from power pilferage cases till the end of August 2014. Power pilferage cases were registered during checking of more than4.94 lakh high-tension and low-tension connections in three power distribution companies.
During checking, irregularities were delected in more than 96,000 electricity connections and fine worth Rs 93.7 crore was recovered from erring consumers. During the period, more than 17.000 cases of power pilferage or other irregularities werepresented before special courts.
Under Madhya Pradesh East, Central and West Region Power Distribution Companies, more than 1.62 lakh electricity connections in Jabalpur. Rewa and Sagar areas were checked. The company detected power pilferage or irregularities in 35,490 connections and recovered financial penalty to the (une ol'Rs 15.49 crore. The company has presemed a total of 5.514 cases of power pilferage and irregularities before (he special court. Similarly. Madhya Pradesh West Region Power Distribution Company Limited checked more than 2.85 lakh electricity connections in Indore and Ujjain areas. In the checking, company detected power pilferage or irregularities in more than 43.503 electricity connections. The company recovered fine to the than of Rs 58.14 crore from the erring consumers. The company filed 5,961 cases of power theft or other irregularities in special courts during the period. Madhya Pradesh Central Region Power Distribution Company checked 46,893 electricity connections in Bhopal and Gwalior regions and detected power pilferage cases in 17,692 connections. During the period, the company presented more than 5,571 cases of power pilferage and other irregularities before special courts. The company has recovered electricity revenue worth Rs 19.43 crore from consumers involved in power pilferage.
