Political atmosphere hots up in Chandrapur ahead of Assembly pollss announcement


WITH the Assembly elections in the Stale round the corner, the aspirants Of all four major parties — Congress. Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). and Shiv Sena are sharpening their tools for the electoral battle. The sitting Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs) are sure that they will get ticket of respective parties but there are a large number of aspirants lobbying with the party high-commands 10 gel tickets against the sitting MLAs.
Chandrapur district has six Assembly Constituencies including Chandrapur. Ballarpur. Warora. Rajura. Chimur. and Brahmapuri. Chimur and Brahmapuri coastituencies come under Gadchiroli Loksabha Constituency. 'Modi Wave' had a great effect dur ingLokSabha elections and BJPscorcd lead in ail six constituencies in the district. Three constituencies namely Chandrapur (Nana Shamkule). Ballarpur (Sudhir Mungantiwar) and Brahmapuri (Atul Deshkar) have a strong fortification of BJP while the remaining three — Warora (Sanjay Deotalc). Rajura (SubhashDhotet. and Chimur (Vijay Wadetliwar) are dominated by Congress.
Warora and Rajura seats were allotted to Shiv Sena under the previous seat-sharing formula, hut for last many years Shiv Sena could do! garner much success. NCP did not gel any seat in Chandrapur district and therefore dissatisfaction among local NCP leaders is visible in the form of growing demand for Brahmapuri seat in its quota in seat-sharing formula with longtime ally Congress.
CHANDRAPUR: Sitting Ml.A Nana Shamkule will continue to be BJP candidate from Chandrapur constituency in ensuing elections as he is considered a close aide of top B.IP leader and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari. The names of Ashok Nagapure and Pravin Padvekar from Congress are under consideration and Nagapure appears to be a Stronger contender as the seat may be decided in favour of the group led by former MP Naresh Pugalia.
IN WARORA constituency. Sanjay Deotale will be repeated again as Congress candidate. He is Cabinet Minister and Guardian Minister of Chandrapur district. Further. Deotale has been elected from Warora constituency for three consecutive terms. Recently, Deotale contested Lok Sabha elections unsuccessfully. Interestingly. BJP gained lead in Deotale's Assembly constituency itself.
As far as BJP-Shiv Sena alliance is concerned. Warora seat is in Shiv
