WITH an aim to create awareness about tree plantation, conservation and protection of the trees, and to bring maximum available land in the State under forestry by individuals. Gram Panchayats. educational institutes, and service organisations, the Deputy Director. Social Forestry Department, here has started a Chhatrapaii Shivaji Maharaj Vanashree Puraskar Yojna-2013 as per the 20-point Programme and the National Forest Policies-1988.

Accordingly, the Social Forestry Department of the State has resolved to bring 33 percent of the lands in the Slate under forestry as per the National Forest Policies-1988. The 20-point Programme also aims at tree plantation on maximum barren lands in the Slate through various schemes.

Therefore the Deputy Director of the Social Forestry Department has implemented Chhatrapati Shi vaji Maharaj Vanashree Puraskar Yojna-2013 to encourage the individuals or social organisations to plant, nurture, conserve, and protect the trees at the maximum lands available and to strive for the environmental balance. The scheme also aims at creating awareness among general pub! it in this regard. The said award will be given to 10 Individuals, 2) Gram Panchayats, 3) Educational Institutes. 4) Service Organisations, and 4) Village. District and Division at Revenue Division level and State level. Two awards including first award of Rs 50.000 cash prize and second award of Rs 30.000 cash prize lor each of the said categories will be given at the Revenue Division level while at State level there will be three awards for each of the said categories including this prize of Rs 1 lakh cash prize, second award of Rs 75.000 cash prize and third prize of Rs 50.000 cash prize.

The individuals or organisaiions that had worked for tree plantation and conservation for minimum three years are applicable for the scheme, informed the Social Forestry officials. Interested persons and organisations should contact the Nursery Officer, Social Forestry Department of Chandrapur, Warora, Chimur, Nagbhid. Sindcwahi. Mul. Rajura circles, and the Deputy Director. Social Forestry Department, Mul Road. Chandrapur to get details about the award, get the application form and submit to the office in three copies with details of the work done till December 31, 2013 before September 26. 2014.
