THE patients in Bolekasa area in Korchi taluka are not getting timely medical treatment and other health services as the doctors and other staff members of this Primary Health Centre (PHC) do not remain present in the PHC. During a visit of  the Zilla Parishad member from the area Sunanda Atla recently the PHC was found closed. The PHC was virtually locked with no any doctor or nurse present in it. it was found.

Sonic patients from nearby village suffering from ailments who had gone to the PHC had to go back without any treatment because the PHC was closed, told Atla while talking to this reporter. Interestingly enough, one ANM was sitting inside her quarter which is situated in the same building of PHC bui she did not attend the patients nor did she bother to open the door of the PMC-It was only in the evening that the PHC was opened by that ANM but till then the patients had left without any treatment. Alia added.

This is a very serious matter.PHC being the most essential service centre, it should be kept open throughout the day and the patients be attended to. demanded Atla.

The Medical Officer and other staff Of ihe PHC should remain present in the PHC and it should be ensured that every patient gets the treatment, said Atla. The villagers told me that the PHC remains closed for most of Ihe days and there is nothing new in it, she added.

As many as three doctors, two ANMs and an MPW (Multipurpose Health Worker) have been appointed in the PHC but none of them was present in it, said Atla.

Atla has demanded stringent action against the doctors and the staff responsible for litis negligence. The issue will be taken up in the meeting of the Health Committee of the Zitla Parishad. added Atla.
