Wife, mother-in-law get life term for man's murder
S M BHOSALE, Amravaii District and Session Judge-5, sentenced life imprisonment to a 28-year-old woman and her mother for killing her husband. Court sentenced three years' imprisonment to her father and order to send her minor brother to remand home.
According to information. Gopal Warghat from Kekatpur village was married to Amrapali Bapurao Thorat from Nerpinglai village of the district. However, their marriage was Dot a happy one and fights broke between the two often over minor issues. Frustrated. Amprapali left her husband and started living at her parents at Ner Pinglai.
On November 12. 2010, Gopal had gone to his in-laws house for bringing his wife back to his house. He tried to convince Amrapali and also stayed at his in-laws' house for a few days.
On November 27. Gopal again picked up a quarrel with her. Enraged over this. Amrapali along with her mother Lila Bapurao Thorat (45) and 14-year-old younger brother severely beaten Gopal in which he died on the spot.Amrapali. her mother Lila and brother, then, took Gopal's body on the backyard of their home and set it afire. Bapurao Thorat, (50). who had gone to his farm at the time of incident, came to know about it after returning home. Bapurao. instead of making a police complaint, tried to hide it. On the following day. Lila went to Gopal's house and asked Lakshmi Warghat. mother of Gopal about Gopal. Suspecting foul. Lakshmi lodged a complaint at Shirkhed Police Station. Shirkhed Police first lodged the case of a missing person and started investigation accordingly. However during interrogation. Amrapali and her mother spilled the beans and confessed to their crime.
Shirkhed police arrested Amrapali. her mother Lila. father Bapurao and her brother Milind. Police lodged offences against them under section 302. 201 and 34 of IPC and submitted chargesheet at the court. S M Bhosale. District and Session Judgc-5 after cross examining five witnesses sentenced Amrapali Warghat and her mother Lila Thorat to life imprisonment and also imposed a fine of Rs 5.000. In case of failure to deposit the fine, they will have to undergo five months'of additional imprisonment. Court sentenced three years' imprisonment to Bapurao Thorat and ordered to send Milind to Remand Home. Adv Sunil Deshmukh was the public prosecutor in the case.
