Kowase flays Govt's decision to hand over forest to FDCM
VARIOUS political parties and social organisations in Gadchiroli district have strongly opposed the State Government decision of handing over the forest in the district to the Maharashtra Forest Development Corporation (FDCM).
Addressing a press conference here Marotrao Kowase. former MP said the decision of the State Government to hand over some 20.843 hectares of forest to FDCM is totally wrong as it would destroy the valuable forest and deprive the trihals of their employment and income generating activities. He demanded immediate withdrawal of this decision.
Giving details of the issue. Kowasc said that the State Government has handed over 8885 hectares of forest vide GR dated April 28. 2014 and 11.956 hectares of forest vide GR dated June 19. 2014. The Jangal Kamgar Sahkari Sansthas in the district will lose the work they have been getting so far and naturally the tribal labourers will be left unemployed and will face financial crisis, he added.
To oppose this decision and press for its withdrawal, an all party dhar-na will be held on August 11 and the agitation will be intensified further, told Kowase.
