Congress ready to contest all 288 seats: MPCC Chief

Congress Committee (MPCC) chief Manikrao Thakre said. Congress is ready to contest all 288 assembly seats in the elections. The party has invited application from party workers on all the seals by August 11. Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has demanded 144 seats in the ensuing assembly elections but Congress is not ready for it. Congress will not form an allaince with NCP if they are not ready to accept old formula of seat sharing. Thakre was addressiim Vidarbha level pany convention at Dr. Vasantrao Deshpande Hall on Monday. Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan was also present as chief guest. Thakre said, we want to form an alliance with secular parties including RPI leader Prakash Ambedkar and Jogendra Kawade. The party will announce the first list of candidates by August 16 or August 17. The pany will give preference to ladies and youths in the elections. The pany is or ganising such conventions to boost morale of the demoralised party workers for ensuing assembly elections. BJP-Shiv Sena would not lie able to repeat its Lok Sabha performance in assembly election and Congress would definitely be voted back to power, he predicted.
Thakre blasted Prime Minister SS Das. District and Sessions Judge on Tuesday sentenced 12 years imprisonment to John alias Janardan Waghmare, Rafique Sheikh Nabi Sheikh and Tanaji Bhosale in Khandelwal Jewellers robbery case that occurred on August 31, 2010 in a broad daylight. Court has sentenced 10 year imprisonment each Omprakash Bhatkar, Anil Mohankar and to Dilip Wagh and four years imprisonment each to Nasrin Bano Rafique Sheikh and Anjali Waghmare. Court convicted eight out of 11 accused and acquitted remaining three. The accused had executed robbery at Khandelwal Jwellers at Jaislambha Square on August 31. 2010 and had looted gold ornaments at gun point. The incident had created sensation as the robbery had occurred during day hours. Police had started the investigation of (he case on the basis of the CCTV footages of die accused. As per complaint lodged by the shop owners, the accused had looted gold ornaments of about Rs 50 lakh from the shop.
Amravati Police had formed various teams in search of the accused and had arrested 11 accused including John alias Janardan Waghmare and Rafique Sheikh Nabi Sheikh Nagar from Rani Bannore village in Karnataka Slate. Police also had arrested Dilip alias Rainrao Korde. Bhadegaon. Omprakash Bharat Bhatkar (35), Akola. Anil Bhagwat Mohankar (25). Arvi. Dilip Kisan Wagh (31). Morshi. Shivaji Vitthal Bhosale (28). City Korwali Police booked them under relevant section of robbery and later have imposed Maharashtra Control of Organise Crime Act (MCOCA) over them. Police after investigating the case had submitted chargcsheet at the Court. After cross examining the witnesses and evidance provided by the police Judge on Monday convicted eight accused including John alias Janardan Waghmare. Rafique Sheikh Nabi Sheikh. Omprakash Bhatkar. Anil Mohankar. Dilip Wagh. Nasrin Bano Rafuique Sheikh. Anjali Waghmare and Tanya alias Tanaji Bhosale. Court acquitted three accused including Dilip alias Ramrao Korde. Shivaji Vitthal Bhosale and Sheikh Salim Sheikh Farid due to lack of evidances against them.

Ten years imprisonment was sentenced each to Omprakash Bhatkar. Anil Mohankar and to Dilip Wagh and also slapped fine of Rs. 5 lakh on them. Court has sentenced four years imprisonment each to Nasrin Bano Rafuique Sheikh and to Anjali Waghmare along with the fine of Rs. 2 lakh.
