Workshop organised in Desaiganj college
A WORKSHOP on 'Critical theories and their application to literary text and world literature' was held at Adarsh Arts and Commerce College, Desaiganj. The workshio was organised by Literature and Language Students Study Council. Dr H B Dhote chaired the workshop in the chief presence of Principal Dr P H Balbudhe. Y N Meshram and Milind Pathade, both from English Department of N H College, Bramhapuri. were the resource persons. Dr S K Singh. Dr S G Gahane and R M Dhote were also prominently present. Milind Pathade spoke at lengthen emergence of critical theoroes and their application to literary text. He said that reading literary text has become difficlui in the context of theories. "In die past, the text was interpreted in the light of biological and biographical context of the writer. However, the interpretation has gome a paradigm shift after the emergence of critical theories. He explained T S Eliot's The Waste land' in the light of mythical feminist and structuralism.
Dr Y N Meshram spoke on 'World literature'. He said that language was not a barrier if one wanted to write. He encouraged student to joi down their feelings and thoughts that arise spontaneously in their own language.
Dr H B Dhote stressed on the importance of English language in today's times. He said that local language cannot help one progress beyond a certain point.
Principal Balbhudhe said that commaon over English language ad good knaowledge of computers were the keys to success.
Earlier. Dr D K Singh introduced the guests. Poonam Ghutke conducted the proceedings and Gaurishankar Dixit proposed a vote of thanks.
The workshop was largely attended by students and staff of Adarsh Arts and Commerce College.
