INCESSANT rainfall and continuous inflow of water into source river. Chandrapur Super Thermal Power Station (CSTPS) authorities have partially opened three gates of Irai dam here on Mondav. Presently, the water-level is 207.175 metres in the dam and the release of water is expeeted to continue till inflow of water in the dam subsides.

The two gates of dam were opened by 0.25 metre on Sunday midnight. as the water level in dam reached more than 207 metres.

Meanwhile, the other gate no. 4) was later opened by 0.25 metre in the afternoon to accelerate the rate of released! water. However, authorities have maintained that presently there is no threat to the settlements alona the Irai river ahead due to release of water. However, due lo satisfactory rainfall during this monsoon, the water-level in dam rose steadily. Good rainfall during last two days further raised the level in dam following which decision to open the three gates of dam was taken. However, in the evening, the officials of CSTPS closed a gate and to reduce the water-level two gates have been opened upto 0.25 metres.
