Principal booked for exploiting Dalit woman


RANA PRATAP Nagar Police booked a principal of a school in Gadchandur from Chandrapur for sexually exploiting an educated 38-year-old Dalit woman for more than two-and-a-half- years on the pretext of tying the nuptial knot with her. When the woman insisted for marriage, he threatened to throw her from the balcony of his flat in Suyog Nagar. Cops also booked his family members for allegedly assaulting the victim and hurling casteist remarks at her.
Identified as Pankaj Tukaram Pawar (31). the accused is a resident of Plot No. 23. Vitthal Society. Snehnagar, Chandrapur. Cops also booked his father Tukaram Khemaji Pawar (60). mother Sunita (58). brother Swapnil (28) and sister Suvarna Gowardhan Aade Pawar (30). all residents of Chandrapur.
According to police. Pankaj, who works as principal of a school in Gadchandur, established physical relationship with the woman since January 11, 2011 by promising to marry her. In between, he allegedly look some gold ornaments and cash from the woman for his sister's marriage. However, he then started avoiding her. On July 24 last, the woman and her maternal aunr went to Chandrapur to talk with Pankaj's parents. However. Pankaj assaulted her. His parents, brother and sister hurled casteist remarks at her.
On the basis of the victim's complaint . an offence under Sections 376. 323. 506 of the Indian Penal Code read with Sections 3(1)(I2) of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act against Pankaj and his family membersat Rana PratapNagar Police Station.
