Gadchiroli ZP fails to celebrate Teachers' Day again!
EVEN as the entire country celebrated Teachers' Day on Friday to honour memory of Dr S Radhakrisnan on his birth anniversary and teachers for their selfless services, the Zilla Parishad. here, chose to remain aloof. No Teachers' Day programme was organised by the Zilla Parishad on Friday.
This is the second consecutive year when administration has failed to organise the programme on the scheduled date. Last year. too. the programme was not organised on the fixed day and it was held some two weeks later.
As per government directives. Teachers' Day is to be celebrated on September 5 and teachers showing outstanding performance are honoured on this day and are presented Ideal Teachers' Awards.
When asked as to why Teachers' Day programme was not organised this year on September 5. Ulhas Narad, Education Officer (Primary) informed the correspondent that formalities of selection of the ideal teachers could not be completed hence ihe programme was not organised.
"We have received only 10 proposals from ihe eight laiukas in the district and they have been sent 10 the Divisional Commissioner for his approval. After the approval of the Commissioner is received, a date will be fixed with the consultations of the Selection Committee members, the programme will be organised." informed Narad.
The Education Department expected to receive as many as 24 proposals from 12 talukaeach from primary and secondary schools, but we did not receive proposals from four talukas. There was not a single proposal from the secondary schools in the district. Narad informed.
The Vice President of the Zilla Parishad Dr Tamdeo Dudhbale who is also the Chairman of the Education Committee of the Zilla Parishad told that the file of selecting ideal teachers could not be finalised as the file is lying in the office of the ZP President for quite a few days now. he added.
