SANGITA Awhate, who sold her mangalsutra to construcl toilet in her house and became an example for other women, has been made brand ambassador for the cleanliness drive by the District Administration. The announcement was made by Collector Ramchandra Kulkarni, recently.

It may be mentioned here that San^ita Awhale's became a house-hold name in the district after her spirit story was published by newspapers. Herstrong-willed commitment to the cause ofhavintfloilctsathomebecame inspiration   For   many   other women in rural areas, where toilets are considered an unnecessary extravagance. Collector Ramchandra kulkarni, him self visited the her house and felicitation her. Kajesh Parnaik, Sub Divisional Officer, Mangrulpir, B a I a s a h i b Horade, District Disaster Management Officer, and Sheikh Abdul Rafiq, PI, were also present on the occasion. Kulkarni said thai she has sel an ideal example lhai was worth emulating by other women in the rural parts. People in the rural pans should realize importance of cleanliness and if they understood its utmost necessity, the problem of open defecation would get solved, he said.

Replying to her felicitation, Sangi ta said that toilets are a must in all the families. She also said that she would actively participate in the cleanliness drive lo promote the 'Clean India Mission'.

CEO Ruschesh Jaivanshi also visited her house and felicitated her. I lealso asked officers to Convene a special meeting of the Gramsabha ai Saikheda village to enlighten villagers about the availability of subsidies for constructing toilets.
