Risod library organises programmes on Nehru's birth anniv


SWAMI Vivekanand Sarvajanik Vachanalaya had oganised an exhibition of Diwali issue and Other hooks as well as a programme of hook reading. The library has organised fortnight-long programmes from November 14 to 30 to mark the birth anniversary of First Prime Minister of India Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. Sanjay Ukalkar, retired Block Development Officer was in the chair while the chiefguesi wasArvind Kulkarmi.
At the outset, die guests lighted the traditional lamp and paid floral tributes to the image of Pandit Nehru.
In his introductory speech. Temdhare said that the library had organised the exhibition and book reading programme with an aim to attract more and more people towards the habit of reading.
Avlnd Kulkarni said lhai family was a huge institution lhai played an important role in moulding the character of a child. I le called upon people to encourage the habit of reading among their family members as reading books not only helps one to gain knowledge, it also makes them multi-faceted and mature.
In his presidential speech, Ukalkar said that books feed the mind as well a soul and libraries are the treasure of books. (living thecxampleofWestern countries he said that there are huge libraries in the those countries and the reading habit among their citizens is one of the reasons of their progress.
Librarian Gajanan Tarapure proposed a vote of thanks to conclude the programme.
