Contract based workers stage dharna before WCL Area GM's office
THE Contract based workers of Western Coalfields Limited (WCI.). Chandrapur Area staged a dharna before die Area General Manager's Office under the leadership of Bharatiya Koyla Khadan Majdoor Sangha (BKKMS). Wardha Valley, Chandrapur/Ballarpur, recently.
It may be mentioned that the contract based workers have lion's share in the production of the area but the company administration is not paying attention towards their (workers) problems due to which a feeling of discontent has spread among them.
Resulting from the dissatisfaction, the workers launched the dharna under theleadership of Sudhir Cihurdu, President of
BKKMS.YVardha Valley.The workers raised slogans againsi ihe contractors during the agitation and later submitted a memorandum of demands with B T Katarc, Area Personnel Manager, WCL.Chandrapur Area in which the workers threatened the administration that if the demands are not fulfilled as early as possible, the agitation will intensified to press for Ihe demands.The memorandum included the demands that the contract based workers should be given Oiwali Bonus, and all the workers should be provided with social security.The BKKMS office bearers informed that earlier the union had launched demonstrations at sub-area level on January 21, at area level on February 18, and ai headquarter level on lune 10 in Nagpur, but the recommendations of the High Power Committee have not been implemented till ihedale.Therefore the workers also demanded to fulfill the demands at the earliest. Along with Sameer Khan, Branch Secretary, BKKMS and Maniram, Branch President, Ramesh Ballewar, Director Committee Member, Ramesh Moon, ICC Member, Munna lltam, JairamYadav, DilipSatpule, Anil Bandiwar, Y T Nimjc, Nikesh Shivhare, C C, Ciawandc, Vijay Akkewar, K B Malekar, Kishor Hardaha, Suresh Niranjane, Ranjeet Patle, R PRajkondawar, Raju Chunbad, Pramod Kolhc, and Ramesh Mukkalwar worked hard to organise the agitation successfully and peacefully.
