"TREE plantation is essential to prevent rising ill-effect of carbon dioxide and to increase oxygen level in die atmosphere." said Bipin Kumar. Sub Area Manager. WCL Majri.
He was speaking in a tree plantation programme and seminar organised by Bharatiya Majdoor Sangh (BMS) at martyr Yogesh Daliulc Smarak in village Palasgaon in Bhadravati tehsil,
Bipin Kumar inaugurated the programme while Civil Engineer Milind Joshi. Gram Panchayat members Manorama Band and SavitaTayade. Dudhkane and ZP MembcrSur were the guests of honour.
In his introductory remarks, speaking about ihe importance of August 28, Dudhkane said that as many as 294 men and 69 women total 363 villagers including Amruta Devi and her two daughters sacrificed there life to protect the trees from being fell down by the men of the kings in village Khejdali. 25 km from Jodhpur in Rajsthan on August 28. 1730 and since then the martyr day of Amruta Devi is being observed as 'Environment Day'. Inspired by her. Bali Devi had started Chipko Movement in 1974 in Uttaranchal to save the trees and environment. DudhVane said. Bipin Kumar further said that the  use of wood as a fuel produces car-bondioxide that spreads in the atmosphere and grows the temperature. The growing temperature affects the Ozone layer in the sky making holes in it due to which the Sun rays straightly reach to the sky. The ice on the Himalaya is melting and the water level of the seas is growing as a result il has caused ft gRM Altai to the islands on the sea shore. Concluding his speech, he appealed the people to plant more trees, save the Earth.
Deepak Dongarwar. Mahamamri. BMS. who conducted the programme, urged the Government of India, to declare August 28 as an Environment Day. Moreshwar Awari. Vice President of BMS proposed a vote of thanks. Other members of the union including Thakare. Falke. Satpute. Hemke and Headmaster Ingole. strove for success of the programme.
