Man booked for raping minor in Desaiganja

AN offence was finally registered by Desaiganj Police on Saturday nigh! and ihc accused was arrested in the case of a rape on minor Dalit girl.

Waman Pagade (32). a resident of Bhagatsingh Ward of Desaiganj has been given as the name of the accused agaiast whom offence under section 376 (2) (C) of the Indian Penal Code and sections 3 (C), 4, 7.8 of Protection of Children against Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) has been registered and he has been arrested according to police.

Il may be mentioned here that the police had not registered an offence in the case even after 48 hours of the complaint. It was at 9.15 on Saturday night that an offence was finally registered.

We are waiting for the medical report of the girl and further action would be taken only after the report is available, the PSO had told when contacted by the correspondent. 'The Hitavada' was the first to carry a report in this regard.

A senior Gynaecologist from Kurkheda Dr Soyam was called by the Civil Surgeon to examine the victim girl who was admitted in the hospital on the night of September 4 itself.

It was only after the medical report was communicated to the police that they swung into action.

The parents of the girl who are attending her at the District Hospital have expressed severe disappointment over the delay in arresting the accused and conducting medical examination demanding action against the officials concerned.

Meanwhile, some social workers from Desaiganj have demanded a case under SC. ST Atrocities (Prevention) Act against the accused as the girl belongs to Dalit community.
