DGMS to investigate fire at Sinala underground mines
THE officials of Director General Mines Safety (DGMS). Nagpur. would investigate the case of massive fire that broke out on Saturday morning at Sinala underground mines from Monday.
Meanwhile, the officials of Western Coalfields Limited (WCL). Chandrapur Area, sealed out the mines following spreading of methane gas in mines.
It may be mentioned here that the fire that broke out in the morning at Sinala. which was an opencast mine that later turned to underground mine.
The firefighters reached the spot to douse the fire at 14th level of 5th rise at mines. However, the mega exhaust fan went off due to disconnection of power supply from MSEDCL. Following this, some of workers fell unconscious due 10 spreading of methane gas in the underground mine. The rescue team managed to rescue the trapped workers from mines safely one by one. The miners were later shifted to Area hospital of WCL and a private hospital for treatment.
On Sunday, over 70 miners who were admitted at two different hospitals were discharged after treatment.
Highly placed sources informed that the fire broke out at mines in the morning. Aficrclearing the night shift miners from the mine, the firefighters in a large numbers have reportedly been sent to douse out. It has been observed by the senior officials during their visit to the mines.
On Monday, the officials of DGMS will visit the mines once again to start the investigation in this connection, informed sources.
" We have already closed the mine following the instructions of DGMS.
