Congress may finalise its list of candidates today

WITH Shiv Sena and BJP still at loggerheads over seat sharing. Congress is expected lo fast track on Saturday selection of candidates for Maharashtra where it is lighting the Assembly election in alliance with NCP.

With Sonia Gandhi hack from her US visit, a meeting of the Central Election Committee (CEQ has been scheduled on Saturday to decide candidates in the Stale, where the Congrcss-NCP alliance is staring its toughest election, battling 15 years of anti-incumbency.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan would be arriving here to attend the CEC meeting along with PCC chief Manikrao Thakrc and AICC General Secretary in-iharge for the state Mohan Prakash.

Congress leadership wants to Held several fresh faces in the upcoming Assembly elections in the Stale although there is a view among some of its leaders, mainly from the State.
