5-yr-old girl dead, 200 people take ill: Diarrhoea outbreak

Khaparkheda village in Dharni tehsil after a 5-year-old girl died and 200 others fell seriously ill due lo outbreak of diarrhoea since Thursday morning. It is said that these villagers had consumed contaminated water of a village well. According to details, people from Khaparkheda. about 15 kms from Dharni. fetch water from the village well for their daily needs. The water needs to be purified and bleaching powder has to be added to it at regular intervals, but this was not being done since long. As a result people in the village were drinking contaminated since last few days. Suddenly, on Thursday morning many villagers complained vomiting and loose motions. About 200 people suffered from diarrhoea and condition of manv became critical. A medical camp was started at Zilla Parishad School on Thursday itself where the patients are being treated. The serious patients have been shifted to Public Health Centres at Sadrabadi and Kalpakhar village.
Panic prevailed in the village when news of five-year-old Parvati Shantilal Jawarkar's death reached there. She had been taken to Sub District Hospitals Dharni in serious condition bui she breathed her last on Friday morning at 4 while undergoing treatment.
Meanwhile, administration has sprung into action after the outbreak. A team of doctors and senior administrative officers reached the  village.   Staff  from Zilla
