Mah Govt grants status of 'A' category to NMC
THIS may be a good news for Nagpurians as Maharashtra Government has elevated status of Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) from B' category to 'A category. This important multifaceted decision will have a wide impact on citizens. The Government and Private institutions employees will get additional allowances on City Living Allowances (CLA) and House Rent Allowance (HRA). The local body will also get more financial assistance from Central and State Governments. The resolution slated that Brihan mumbai Municipal Corporation elevated to A category from A, while Nagpur and Pune will be elevated to A category. The State Government categorised Municipal Corporations on three criteria- Population. Per Capita Income and Per Capita Area. The Government has consider the population of 2011 for revising category of Municipal Corporations. The Government has decided to give A + category to a Metro city having population more than One crore and per capita income is more than Rs 50.000. while the A category has given to city having population between 25 lakh to One crore and per capita income is more than Rs 8000. The Municipal Corporations having population between 15 lakh to 25 lakh and per capita income is more than Rs 5.000 is falls under B category. The K category Municipal Corporations will be having population between 10 lakh to 15 lakh
