Young constable shoots himself, dies
IN A sensational incident, a young constable committed suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle in residential premises of a Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCB) in Civil Lines on Monday morning. The deceased, Sonu Shivdas Parke (28) was a native of Yavatmal district. Joined the police department in 201 1, Parkhe was attached to Police Headquarters. He was married in May last. Parkhe was deployed on guard duty at the official bungalow of DCP (Special Branch) Vijay Pawar situated opposite to the office of Special Inspector General of Police Nagpur Range in Civil Lines.
Around 9.30 am. Parkhe came for guard duty at DCP Pawar's residence on a motorcycle. Around 10.15 am, he put his self-loading rifle (SLR) under his chin and pulled the trigger.
Hearing the gunshot, his colleagues rushed towards the spot and were shocked to find him dead.
Staff from Sadar Police Station led by G K Rathod arrived at the spot. Joint Commissioner of Police Anupkumar Singh also vislcd the spot to supervise the probe. Cops sent the body to Mayo Hospital for post-mortem after conducting the inquest panchnama.
Prima facie, a senior police officer said, Parkhe took the extreme step following some family dispute.
"We have found a suicide note. However, we are investigating the incident from all possible angles." he added. After informing Parkhe's family members about the incident. Sadar Police registered an accidental death case.
