Employers, establishments must download UAN: EPFO


EMPLOYEES' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has allotted Universal Account Number (UAN) 10 all the workers/employees/subscribers of registered establishments. Addressing media about the development. Animesh Mishra. Regional Provident Fund Commissioner-I. Nagpur on Wednesday said mat the process on computerisation in EPFO started from April 2009 with the launch of application software for claim settlement and accounts processing.
On May 2010, it started on-line grievance registration EPFiGMS. on Feburary 2011 it started facility of claim status by which subscribers could know on-line claim status, on July 2012 E-passbook facility was started which was followed by E-challan. on-line challan generation and remittance of dues in August 2011.
On April 2012 ECR on-line filling of monthly returns along with E-challan was started. On 2013 digitisation of transfer claim and Online Transfer Claim Processing (OTCP). On 2014 on-line registration of establishments for Code Number and on July 2014 Universal Account Numbers (IAN) linking all existing PF accounts under UAN was started. For activation of UAN. all the workers/employees /subscribers are requested tosubmii bank account details with IFSC. Adhar Card Number. PAN and other documents issued by State/Central Government to the employer/establishments immediately. In the absence of these details the UAN cannot be activated and operationalised. "First every employee must ask his employer for his UAN number." said Mishra. He requested employers to immediately obtain digital signature and communicate the same to the EPFO, Regional Office. Commissioner-Il informed that as vide gazette notification of August 22, 2014. the statutory wage limit for providing PF/pensionery benefit to workers has been increased from Rs 6.500 to Rs 15.000 w.e.f September 1. 2014. "Hence, all the employees who earn basic plus dear-ness allowance upto Rs 15.000 will be eligible for benefits." he said. Sanat Kumar. RPFC-II informed that the quantum of monthly pension has been increased to minimum Rs 1.000 as per the gazette notification of August 22. 2014.
