TWO candidates for Assembly constituencies in the district have been announced in the first list of Congress. The list was declared in Mumbai on Wednesday night. Mahcsh Sudhakar Ganagane from Akoi and  Saiyyad Nafikoddin Khatib from Balapur found their place in the first official list. While Mahesh Gangane is a novice. Khalib is a former MLC from the district. Former Congress Minister and loyalist Sudhakarrao Gangane had intentionally ensured the entry of his son Mahesh into active politics. Mahesh Gangane was recently inducted in the District Working Committee. Mahesh Gangane. though a newcomer, will be benefitted by his father Sudhakarrao's popularity. As Gangane's has finalised Ramdas Bodakhe who had claimed candidature from the party now faces disappointment. Saiyyad Natikoddin Khatiband his family have an imprint in the local Balapur politics.Being a former Ml.Cand resident of Balapur itself Khatib enjoys power over the Muslim majority there. His name has wiped out the possibility of Azhar Husain's son Dr Zishan Khan from

Akola West. Former  MLA Laxmanrao Tayade had claimed from Balapur. similarly former BJP MLA Narayan Gawhankar who had emered Congress a year back has also been denied. Gawhankar was denied candidature at the last moment during Lok Sabha elections.
