'Karnataka EMTA Coal Mines lodge fake complaints against 15 workers'


"THE management of Karnataka EMTA Coal Mines. Baranj registered false complaint in the Bhadravati Police station against 15 workers observing peaceful strike for their legal demands in the premises of the company who were later arrested and booked under various sections of the law." alleged Pramod Mohod. President of Rashtriya Koyala Kamgar Sangh. in a press conference held at Devaki Building here on Wednesday.
Interacting with the media persons. Mohod informed that when the talks between the Management of Karnataka EMTA coal mines and the Workers" Unions failed ina meeting called by the Divisional Labour Commissioner. Nagpur. both the unions INTUC and Rashiriya Koyala Kamgar Sangh had called indefinite strike on September 22 and on the same day the District Collector was told thai the strike was going peacefully. But on September 23. SDPO Sunil Jaysawal and PI P N Parghane reached the spot where workers were observing strike peacefully and arrested them and hooked under sections 143.147. 149.341. and 324 of IPC. Later, they were released on bail. When no use of sharp weapon was found by the strikers, how they were booked under section 324, and If there was any weapon with them, why was it not seized by the police, he questioned.
He further alleged that the company has violated the workers' law by registering false complaint. The company is trying to begin the coal digging work by bringing outside workers hut the Strikers will not lei them work at any cost and the situ-ation will grow serious. The company will he held responsible for the same. Dhananjay Gundawar. Sanjay Dubcy and all 15 arrested activists were present at press conference.
When asked about the decision of the Supreme Court that held the KECML illegal and cancelled its allotment and what would he its impact on the future of workers. I»e said mat they are safe and will be safe. Owners would be different but workers will be on duty forever according to the Industrial Dispute Act 1947.
He also informed that he was going to meet the District Superintendent of Police and submit a memorandum of complaint against the company that hired outside laborers for coal excavation.
