Govt gives Rs 2 lakh aid to star wrestler Anil Torkad

                                                                                          

ADV Padmakar Walavi. Minister of Spons and Youth Welfare of Maharashtra State, presentated a cheque of Rs 2 lakh to Anil Torkad. international-level wrestler from Hanuman Vyayam Prasarak Mandal. The programme was organised at Balewadi in Pune especially to provide financial aid to the upcoming wrestler.

Anil Torkad has represented Indian team twice this year in International Wrestling Competition. He defeated wrestler from Iran in the Asian Cadet Wrestling Competition held at Chorbuli in Thailand in May this year and also floored American wrestler in the World Wrestling Competition at Slovakia held between July 15 and July 20. He also represented Indian team in Asian Cadet Wrestling Competition at Mongolia in July 2013 and also at World Cadet Wrestling Competition held in Serbia in August 2013.

Torkad has won four national gold medals. He also has been honoured with Nagbhushan Award 2013 presented by Nagbhushan Foundation. Taking cognizance of his achievement. State Government presented him fianancial aid of Rs 2 lakh in the programme held ai Balewadi. Pune. Dr Manik Thosare. Deputy Direcior of Sports and Youth Welfare. Prof Sanjay Tirathkar. International Wrestling Coach and Uday Pawar were prominantly present on the occasion.

Torkad is a HSSC student from Ramkrishna Krida Vidyalaya. He is striving hard to gel a chance to represent Indian team in Asian Games and also in Olympics.
