Dr Abhay Bang for on risks of to bacco more awareness consumption
NOTED social worker Dr Abhay Bang has called upon social activists to make the society addiction-free to build a strong nation. Me was addressing a meeting of voluntary organisations and social workers at Gurudeo Sewa Mandal here the other day under its anti-tobacco campaign. Dr Shiwnath Kumbhare, President of Gurudeo Sewa Mandal, presided over the programme while Dr Murlidhar Baddalwar, Devanaixl Kamdi, Nanaji Wadhai and Jairam Khobragade were prominently present.
Dr Bang said at the meeting that tobacco consumption causes various health problems like cancer, blood pressure, paralysis, heart disease etc and therefore people should avoid consumption of tobacco. Social workers and NGO activists should also lake up awareness work and spread the message of tobacco's ill-effects, he said. The awareness programmes can he taken up during the festivals like Ganesh. DurgaPujaetc. Womenself help groups and bhajan mandate can also play an important role in the lask and hence iheir help should be sought in the awareness campaign, Dr. Bang suggesied.
Dr Kumbhare appealed workers of Gurudeo Sewa Mandal lo creaie awareness among people about ill-effects of lobacco consumption in even' village. To free the society from the habit of tobacco consumption will be a real homage to Rashrasant Tukdoji Maharaj. he said.
At the outset, a team of SEARCH led by Kelzarkar presented songs on the tobacco's ill-effects. A detailed presentation was also made on the occasion.
