3 booked, gutkha Rs 2.5 lakh seized
GUTKHA worth Rs 2.5 lakh was seized by the police on August 31. In this connection, the police booked three persons under the relevant sections.
On the basis of information received by the Police Department, the police seized gutkha worth Rs 2.5 lakh brought from Akola to Washim for sale. The police tried to detain a van near the Sawargaon Barde village that was carrying gutkha slock. When the van did not stop, the police chased it and detained it in Washim city at Balu Chowk and finally arrested three persons. Soon after the seizure of the gutkha slock by the police, the information was passed on lo the Food and Drugs Department, Akola. Accordingly, one officer of the department Prashant Ambhidkar reached Washim and registered an offence against Rama Maroli Pohare. Rama Lakshman Sawale and Kishorcbhai Palan, the residenis of Akola. After having registered an offence against all the three persons, the Bolero van including the stock of guikha worth Rs 6.64 lakh was seized. PSI Uday Soyaskar is investigating further.
