Kisan Sabha organises dharna in Korchi

WORKERS of Kisan Sabha staged demonstrations in front of Tehsil Office at Korchi on Tuesday to press various demands of farmers and farm labourers.

Dr Mahesh Kopulwar. District Secretary of the Communist Parly of India. Deorao Chawde. Amol Marakwar. ilia Parishad member. Vinod Zodge. Hiralal Yerme. Budhram Sahare. Rajaram Uike and Naresh Sahare led the agitation.

After a daylong dharna. a memorandum addressed to the Prime Minister was submitted to the Tehsildar. Main demands included monthly pension of Rs 3.000 should be given to the farmers, farm labourers and unorganised workers, every family should be given 35 kgs of foodgrainsevery month, people from other backward class (OBC) should be given 27 percent reservation. District Selection Board should be established in the district, labourers engaged in Employment Guarantee Scheme works should be given wages regularly, labourers should be provided 200 days of work in a year and wages of Rs 33 per day etc.

Addressing the workers. Dr Kopulwar strongly criticised the government for neglecting interests of farmers and farm labourers. He threatened to intensify the agitation if the demands are ignored. A large number of Kisan Sabha workers, farmers and farm labourers participated in the dharna.
