AGB to use festival of Lord of Wisdom to end vice of corruption
THE Anti-Corruption Bureaux in Amravati Division have decided lo use the tenday long public festival of Ganeshotsav for spreading message of checking corruption.
ACB in Akola has engaged a drama group from Murtijapur to present road shows and folk art to put across an appeal to the people. 'Stop Corruption, Save Nation.' is the slogan that will be used as theme for the dramas.
A special committee has been constituted by local ACB under chairmanship of Sachin Shinde. Deputy Superintendent of Police (Ami Corruption) to monitor the mission, informed DSP of Akola ACB Uttamrao Jadhav.Stickers, posters were put on autorickshaws and pamphlets are being distributed by the department for this purpose, Jadhav told adding that medium of public festival can be a good platform to spread public awareness against corruption.
Since last few months. Ami Corruption Bureau Chief in the State Pravin Dikshit started engaging hitech social media like Whats app. Facebook for public awareness for eradication of corruption. Photographs of corrupt personnel in Government and semi-Government offices were uploaded as a part of anti-corruption mission.
Occasion of public celebration like Ganeshotsav was first used for a medium to awaken the freedom spirit of the countrymen provoking a struggle against foreign rule. LokmanyaTilak had realised in 1893 that public festivals could play an important role for public awakening.
Since then although the nature of celebration of Ganeshotsav has seen many changes, its power to mold public opinion has remained unchanged.
